Yes, we have.
Short Answer: Consult with your coach and a good table tennis shop.
For beginners, we recommend either:
A good ready-made bat: All-round all-wood blade, grippy rubbers, medium bounce (not too fast or too slow).
A basic customized bat: All-round all-wood blade, grippy rubbers (not too hard or too fast) on both forehand and backhand.
For more developed players, go for a customized bat, based on:
Skill Level – The lower the level, the more all-round the setup should be.
Playing Style – Discuss with your coach or training partner.
Training Frequency – The more you play, the better you understand your style and the equipment you need.
Ready-Made Bats: These are pre-assembled bats usually sold in general sports stores. While some might be okay for beginners, most are made with low-quality materials and non-replaceable rubbers. They can hinder your progress and encourage bad habits. You shouldn’t pay more than $100 for one. We recommend consulting your coach before buying. You can also borrow a bat during our sessions or buy a beginner-friendly bat from us for under $100.
Customized Bats: A customized bat includes a blade and two separate rubbers (forehand and backhand) chosen to match your skill level and playing style. These are available from specialized table tennis shops. Since there are many options—and prices can be high—we strongly suggest talking to your coach before buying. Choosing the wrong setup can hinder your progress.
A customized bat typically costs somewhere in between $150 to $250. However, it can be more.
You need to wear sports clothe. You also need to bring a towel, a drink bottle, and your bat (if you have one). Otherwise, you can borrow a bat from us.
If your goal is to become a semi-professional player or beyond, the ideal starting age is typically between 4 and 7 years old.
However, if your aim is to enjoy the game and improve as much as possible within your own circumstances, you can start at any age. Table tennis is a lifelong sport, and with the right guidance and consistent practice, progress is always possible. Many players have started later in life and still reached a high level.
